Resource List: Family Violence Prevention, Inc.

Family Violence Prevention, Inc.

Description:

FVP is a United Way of Independence County agency and community-based project that provides safe shelter, counseling and other support services (such as legal aid) to battered men, women and their children as well as victims of sexual assault. It works with federal, state and local officials, particularly the Independence County Sheriff’s Office’s domestic violence unit, to stop abusers and help the abused.

All FVP services are free and confidential. The identities of all clients and the location of the shelter is not disclosed to anyone to ensure the safety of the victims and their families.

Anyone wishing to volunteer or who has a property suitable for the resale shop can call 793-4011. To report domestic violence, call the FVP crisis hotline at 793-8111 or 1-800-894-8821.
