Bellevue/NYU Program for Survivors of Torture
Description:
|
Treatment program jointly supported by Bellevue Hospital Center and the NYU School of Medicine
The Program was established in 1995 to provide multidisciplinary treatment and rehabilitative services to survivors of political torture and their families. In addition to providing direct patient services, the Program also serves as a training and resource center for other organizations assisting refugees and immigrant populations. The Program benefits from its affiliation with an academic medical center in providing training for health care professionals and developing research projects on effective treatment and rehabilitation models. The Program is the first and only comprehensive treatment center for survivors of torture in the New York City area.
