The Rape Crisis Center
Description:
|
In the mid-1970s, community leaders, activists, and survivors of sexual assault had a vision to create a nonprofit agency that would support victims of sexual assault in San Antonio and Bexar County. The Rape Crisis Center began providing supportive services to victims in November 1975. The Centers goal was to ensure victims of sexual violence would have a responsive medical community, sensitive law enforcement officials, and active prosecution system.
Established as a private, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) agency, the Rape Crisis Center receives funding federal, state, local funding, as well as funding from private individuals, foundations and the business community.
