Erin Pizzey, the woman who pioneered treatment for abused women by setting up Britain's first shelter for victims of domestic violence in the 70s, is now turning her attention to another group of often overlooked victims: MEN.

She is launching an online campaign and research project focused on bringing the issue out in the open, Ms Pizzey is hoping to raise awareness of abuse perpetrated by women against men – a subject she describes as "one of the last taboos".
She has put a questionnaire on the website femininezone.com that allows women to answer questions anonymously about how they treat men.

There is no doubt that the time has come for Erin to be applauded for her courage in having stood up to the bias against her open-minded approach to these issues! We think that it's wonderful that she has become "recharged" and we stand with her in this important effort, and hope that SAFE can in some way assist her.

Erin Pizzey is a colleague that I am proud to support and one whom deserves credit for standing her ground for so many years...virtually fending off the bullies that dismissed her theories and facts so readily.

No longer are there few voices to join with her as in the past.
Today there are many of us at all levels of experience and expertise who will stand with Erin to finally get people to understand ...that she and others like her were right all along!
Domestic Abuse is an "equal opportunity" issue!

Good luck Erin Pizzey and welcome back to your life's work!

"The term of domestic violence does not necessarily have to invoke the picture of a battered woman since the number of maltreated men is almost equal, and every third Czech man has experienced some kind of domestic violence, the latest issue of the weekly Tyden writes."
